One of my early gateways to anything post-internet was an article about Chaz Allen aka Metallic Ghosts aka Magicalchazwick called “Vaporwave and the observer effect”. Then I realized Tiny Mix Tapes has been passionately supporting this mini-cyber-trend for months and introduced a handful of genre’s essential works into their 2013 favorites list.

But if you’d like to skip all of that and stick to one comprehensive yet slightly philosophical coverage of what this slow ascension towards VHS madness means and where it comes from, check out DummyMag’s two-part article “Vaporwave and the pop-art of the virtual plaza” bundled with an unavoidable playlist at its bottom. I appreciate all the incoming suggestions here. I’m not trying to play the guru Mr. Know-it-all for anyone who claims that title about seapunk, post-internet, and vaporwave is doomed to be humiliated.
