You can finish the sampler to the cyberpunk Flashback-y Blade-Runner-y online browser game The Last Night in under two minutes (that is to the five of you who still have Flash enabled, but I found a shortcut for the sake of this game). The better part of it involves walking. There’s a plot to kill a chubby bloke and shoot the agents. But brothers Tim and Adrien Soret have just offered us a sip of the neon-themed 16-bit soup they’re yet to offer. It was supposed to be an upcoming game called Behind Nowhere (currently delayed, alas). But we’ll skip that for now.

However, as our affectionate quest for early-90s MS-DOS sentimental longing continues, I cannot hide the short dynamo-ejaculation I received from the theme song by the french duo Scratch Massive. It happens to be the opening track to their 2011 LP Nuits de Rêve.

Despite the short duration of your gameplay and a 6-day implementation time, there has been a considerable amount of thought behind the futuristic urban area your spaceship lands on, the club you enter, and the balcony ending scene. Your enemies and the boss look a bit desperate and helpless. And if you’re fast enough (you don’t even need to try hard), the mission is accomplished before entertainment starts. But The Last Night is most probably not made for a joystick blister…
