Thomas Bangalter — “Stress”

Death is statistically the saddest log-out one will ever experience. It’s a power-off of time and space with no known benefits (yet). It can embrace you solemnly in peace or it can come as, well, repeated capsule-banging to your skull until your head turns into onion soup. Sorry for the inconvenience of that statement. But if one can cinematically portray such brutality, it would make a third-degree burn of good posture with a lingering vexation that will stick with you until, well, you die! And that’s what happened to me upon my first view of Gaspar Noé’s Irréversible only nineteen years ago. And there’s also that unwatchable (and un-hyperlinkable) scene with Monica Bellucci.

But the gore darkness, violence, and the immedicable graphical pain consumed in the film are nowhere near complete without Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk’s merciless score. You might have already heard the oscillating siren in the most recognized track of the album “Rectum”. But let us not be derailed from the rest of the pure electronic nudity that songs like “Stress” contain. This movie gave us some very hard time. May this unleashing of anger sedate me from approaching it again. I no longer recommend this film to anyone, but the soundtrack still has a place on my list. For health reasons, stay away from the former and stick to the latter. You have been warned! I care.
